Who Is The Best Guide At ACE?

I thought I would try something different in this week's blog.  I'm going to allow you guys to vote for who is the best guide at ACE!

Every week I get the privilege of reading the guest comment cards and emails.  They are filled with the accolades of how so-and-so was the best, greatest, most fantastic, etc.  With so many "great" guides, how do you determine who is the best?  You will!

I want you guys to nominate your favorite guide and tell us why we should vote for them.  Pretty simple — whoever gets the most votes wins.

Who's the funniest? Who's got the skills? Who always seems to have a contagious smile? Who knows how to deliver the most fun?

You can vote in the comments here or on our Facebook page, too.

For my money, Kirk Tilley is the man!

Well Bill you picked a good one! Kirk is one our more popular guides for sure. But what makes him ACE's "Best" Guide? It can't be for his good looks!

I vote Alisa as the best all around guide, knowledge of the river, fun, good looks, stories, totally there for the "guest's trip" not her own trip

Ok if I can only pick one...and no offense to anyone else...I have to say....yep, I can't pick one. Alisa? Susan? Leah? Yes I prefer the female guides. Nothing like watching a woman lead a bunch of scared men down one of the biggest rivers in the world. I am woman hear me roar.

OK Mary and Brandiwine... I see were this is going! So maybe my next blog should be "Which sex makes a better guide - men or women?" But I agree, Alisa, Susan & Leah are all beautiful and wonderful guides. Maybe we should do a blog "Rookie of the year - who was the best first year guide for the 2009 season?"

This is a hard one. I like different ones for different reasons. Kirk Tilley and Stephen Reid for their knowledge and straight up craziness. Phil Dudley for his cool demeanor. Alisa and Leah just because I like them so much as people

Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda Miranda!!!!!!

She's cute, fun, witty, and wild. She knows that river like she was born on it. She knows the BEST river stories. She knows when to skirt danger & excitement, and when to whip us into shape and pay attention. She knows how to make us look like we really know what we are doing, which is a hard thing to do. HA! She loves & respects the river...and it shows. Thank you Miranda!!!! You are truly the BEST river guide EVER!!! I will continue to request you as my guide, until I can't crawl into a raft anymore. LOL

Shanna Crompton would have to be, by far the best guide on the New and the Gauley Rivers. She knows these rivers like the back of her hand and by the time she gets you through the trips ,she will know you just as well. She makes the trips safe and yet highly adventurous for old and young alike.

My trip with Smiley this year was the most fun one my family has had at ACE(and we've had other awesome trips). His smile and enthusiasm are contagious and he clearly knows the river well. He's also a favorite with my teenage daughter, but I don't think that has anything to do with his whitewater skills.

OK Pansy Parker! Now that is something we can vote on. Miranda is an awesome guide.

Wow, that's 2 for Smiley and 1 for Shanna. But I still haven't heard some of the names that I expected to hear. Scott Olive who probably has more requests than anyone? Jack, Tug? We will see...

We had the pleasure of going down the Lower New TWICE this year with SMILEY (Mike Schmead???). He is a lot of fun, and will make the ride as wild or mild as you want (like when it's freezing cold on bridge day and you don't want to swim at bloody nose!)

SUSAN is our new favorite GAULEY RIVER GUIDE.... she KNOWS the river and is fun and safe! Even if HELL HOLE tried to eat us... jump dump the man and high side, and the all girl surf was a success.

Well Frenchie... maybe you should be recognized as the "Rookie of the Year"! Fame and Fortune are the accolades of good work... well one out of two ain't bad. ;) We miss you already - have a great off season.

Riding down the New with Frenchie was truly a dream come true. He knew every nook of the river as if he carved its glorious pathways with his own two hands. He surprised us with Surprise, and we rode Greyhound like a bus! I recommend renaming Miller's Folly to Miller's Jolly, because his vivacious attitude is contagious. He's undoubtedly one of the top 3 guides in the world. On top of all that he's French, so probably great in bed...

I'll give Frenchie 5 any day of the week!!!

Hey Dingo... are you sure you're not Frenchie in disguise? That was well written and a little over the top ;) But you're right... it seems like we are going to have to hire Frenchie back again!!!

Frenchie, it's not fair if you get your friends to vote for you (Dingo....). If it was, then I'd just start creating aliases and voting for myself. I'd love a nice prize!

I really despise him as a person, but he is one hell of a guide.

Hey Dingo - kind of personal! And Julia the prize is winning a date with you!
...
written by Julia, November 24, 2009
A date with me? Really? You couldn't come up with anything better than that? C'mon Rick, you're more creative than that. Besides, Ace has to have at least a beer koozie or keychain lying around somewhere.

Be careful Julia or my next blog will be who is the hotest guide at ACE! ;)

I dare you. I guarantee I won't be nominated by readers or guests, but I do have a few ideas of who probably will.
