There's No I In Team At ACE

Sometimes the cliche "There is no I in team" gets on my nerves. Everyone wants to get credit and be appreciated. I have learned, however, that when working for a large company, teamwork is a must. It is necessary. It takes a village. ACE's 1,500 acres won't run themselves.
I worked in the Reservation Office for two years, and that machine is uber-efficient. I would book groups and help newer employees with our reservations system. Kim would send confirmations. Tyler would work the front desk. We all knew where we belonged and it fit. It was understood.
I now work in the Marketing Department and teamwork comes into play every day. Beth, Trish, Rick and I all work on different projects and, speaking from experience, I sometimes hit a creative wall. It is hard to sit and be creative all day and be successful.
We have been known to gather each other up and bounce ideas around the room. Some of our best material has stemmed from a 30-second brainstorming session.
Think about it. How many people does it take to make a day happen at ACE?
Bus drivers; people to work the Welcome Center, Dining Hall and Lost Paddle Lounge; river guides; grounds crew; house cleaners; and administration.
And that's just a drop in the bucket. You get my drift.
A guest makes a reservation. Brianna enters the reservation. Paul has to assign the cabin. Bo has to assign the trip time. Gary has to make sure the buses are ready. Randy has to have enough breakfast prepared. Phyllis makes sure lunches are packed. And so on. And so on. The intricate spider web of details is easy to forget.
I will be introducing you to some of my ACE team mates as the season progresses. We are a coloful bunch, so brace yourself. And the team is growing as we start new guide training in a couple of weeks.
There is a whole community of employees at ACE who work to ensure your Zip Line Canopy Tour or your whitewater rafting trip is the best. There is no "I" in team. There is no "I" in ACE either.
