Trish and Onyx’s Excellent ACE Adventure

Let me share a little secret about ACE’s Marketing Department. We love our dogs. Beth has Jackson and Reilly. Trish has Lulu and Bailey. I have Bella and Margaret. This is the story of Trish’s good deed for the day.
She and I carpool to work. This morning, she was late. I abide by the Oprah no-phone zone rule and try not to text people when I know they are driving. Finally, my phone rang. She found a dog in the middle of the road and corralled it into her jeep to save it from harm.

She arrived. This dog was adorable. He looked like a Rocky so that’s what we called him. He sat in her back seat like he had been there forever. Rocky was so calm and sweet that you just wanted to hug him.
We get to work and meet Beth in the parking lot and break the news that we have a new co-worker today - Rocky. Then, we started the search for his owners. I like to think of myself as a modern day Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote. I was going to solve this mystery faster than you can say Cabot Cove. We each post him on Facebook. I ask Trish what the nearest business was to the site of the rescue.
I called and explained the situation. Brittany answered and told me his name is actually Onyx and he lives in the area. Let me tell you something about Trish. She is no joke. She was not going to give this dog back without a full interview, background check and lecture on canine responsibility.
She talked to the owner’s daughter. Then, she had a nice, long discussion with the owner’s sister. Finally, she spoke to the owner. Trish was not about to give the dog back unless she was 100 percent comfortable with the dog’s safety. Rocky/Onyx was the top priority.
Throughout this whole situation, each one of us were considering adopting this loveable guy. We had other ACE staff members on Facebook offering to foster him until the owner was found or he was adopted.
There is a happy ending. Onyx is home in a safer, more informed home.
The extended ACE family worked together to make sure this little guy was OK. That is the kind of care we give to our guests every day. Only on your vacation, you won’t have to worry about Trish doing a drive-by to check in. She knows you are taken care of, even when whitewater rafting.
