Many people both behind the scenes and behind the wheels are the transportation gurus here at ACE. As a customer, I got to know many of the bus drivers by name.
I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but after all, they had the cold drinks after the trip! And don't tell, but you can enjoy them on a school bus — not to mention, one that's clean, and won't leave you stranded by the side of the road! OK, I apologize; it's the teacher in me that's coming out.
I was also impressed with the fact that given the no-fault roads with WV guardrails (only trees) that these talented drivers could maneuver a bus full of adrenaline-pumped customers safely to and from the river. It is no small undertaking.

Imagine you've just taken a trip down the Gauley. Who says the fun has to end? Join us at the Lost Paddle for an evening of fabulous food and the perfect way to complete your whitewater adventure.
Open seven days a week, the Lost Paddle serves up a tasty menu with something to suit everyone's fancy. No driving worries, the Lost Paddle is located lakeside on ACE Adventure Resort property.
Since it's Gauley Season you might want to try a delicious appetizer such as the Fuzzy Box of Kittens — crispy onion rings served with a spicy dipping sauce. From succulent salads, to big juicy burgers, to specialty sandwiches, the Paddle offers the freshest and finest ingredients.
Oh, and did I mention the wide selection of beer and spirits?

I'm often asked by customers, "Who owns ACE?" and I smile because I remember when I was a customer asking that very same question. Not sure why exactly I wondered, other than I couldn't believe I was having so much fun each and every time I went down the river.
As I described in an earlier blog, I was very impressed with everything I experienced as a customer. Our guide, Leah, laughed when asked who was the genius that masterminded such a fantastic resort. I was staring at her partly due to some of her previous stories, and that devilish laugh of hers, when she said there were three owners and then called "Forward!"
I wanted to know more about who made all of this stuff happen from the busses to all the activities. Who were these folks?

I can't think of any better way to capture your trip memories than on video. Now don't get me wrong, I always bought the pictures from our trips, but I also bought our DVD videos, too.
It was the videos that actually helped us through the long winter months as we endured that most painful time of what we call river withdrawals. Each and every time we'd watch a video from one of our trips, we'd laugh and get all hyped up again as if we'd taken another trip only this time staying dry.

Let me start by telling you a little about myself and how it all began.
Originally from Florida, transplanted to coastal North Carolina, I'm a 24-year veteran educator, who finds herself always learning something new. This time however, it wasn't in a traditional classroom, but through experiencing some of the best whitewater in the world!
In mid-July, a few years ago, my husband and I decided to take our first whitewater rafting trip with ACE. We were hooked!
