A lot of people have seen the New River Gorge while whitewater rafting its classic rapids but that’s only a small piece of the massive wilderness waiting to be explored.

Put on your helmet and jump on one of ACE’s Can-Am Max 400s to see the thick woods and exciting trails that twist through the ACE property. There’s no better way to explore the steep slopes that make the Gorge the “Grand Canyon of the East” than an ATV Tour.

How was I to know that one afternoon could change my life? You never know when love will find you. I never expected "The Notebook." Frankly, I expected "Grumpy Old Men." When we met, it was like in a movie. I was walking toward her and everything became slow motion. I tried to play it cool but she had me at hello. I felt a goofy grin come over my face and I knew it was love. People always say that when you know, you know. I knew.

We spent the afternoon together with some other co-workers. They could tell I had it bad for her. She let me call her B. B. She seemed to understand my every move. And she was such a good listener. I talked and talked and she was a captive audience. Then Trish was there to get our picture. Normally, it would have been corny to get a picture on your first date but this seemed OK. It was love.

ACE On The Travel Channel: We're Famous!

Be sure to tune in to the Travel Channel this Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EST — ACE is going to get a bit more than 15 seconds of fame!

In the spring, the Travel Channel sent down a crew to film ACE for their “Extreme” series.

This series features just about anything unique from extreme towns and roadside adventures to truck stops and super stores. ACE was filmed for the “Extreme Resorts” show because of all the extreme adventures here on property.

I’m serious. I want to know, what you would like to see ACE build next?

I just spent half a day hiking around Mountain Top Campground trying to layout an 18-hole Frisbee golf course. It’s not an easy task walking, and some times climbing, up and down the mountainous terrain of ACE’s 1,500 acres.

When I finally got back to my car, sweaty and dirty, I started writing notes and drawing diagrams on my map. Then I realized: What a great job!

Come ride in the Mountains

We offer ATV tours at ACE Adventure Resort, but we'd be lying if we tried to tell you West Virginia didn't have tons of other great places to ride. West Virginia has it all, whether you have an ATV or not. Two options worth investigating:

* If you have your own ATV and want to try some awesome trails, you should try out Burning Rock ATV park. Located near Beckley, WV the park encompasses around 8,000 acres. With approximately 100 miles of trails to choose from there is something for every skill level. Burning Rock is only about a 30-minute drive from the whitewater rafting opportunities of the New River Gorge.

* Another opportunity for ATV trails is the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System...
