Great people having a great time
in the GREAT outdoors!

It's September and Gauley Season is here.  With all of the local rains we had over the summer, Summersville Lake was full and ready for the big fall release schedule!

If you came out over the summer, the Lower New River had great water levels all summer, the best summer levels in years!  Now its time to step it up to next level.  The Gauley is waiting for you.

As you plan for when you can come take part in the Gauley celebration, consider what some feel to be the most exciting weekend in the world.  The third weekend in October is the date of the 2009 Bridge Day Festival (the 17th).

If you want to win this year's first-ever Whitewater Rumble guest rafting race, it's going to take some strong paddlers.

In my last post, I described how ACE is organizing a whitewater rafting race for guests on the Lower Gauley this October, pitting you speed demons versus each other AND some of the world's best whitewater. (You can also get more information here on the ACE website.)

So you might ask, what qualifies a good crew of paddlers?

Who are the best guest paddlers at ACE?

As a guide for more than two decades I have had some incredible crews.  In fact, the strongest crew I ever had was an all-women crew on the Upper Gauley:  They listened to commands and paddled like demons.  The raft would surge forward when I called “all ahead.”

Through the years, guides have always bragged about having the “best” crew ever!  Well now it’s time to prove it —  if you think you have a great crew, read on …

ACE is holding the first guest race – called the “Gauley Whitewater Rumble Race” — we are looking for the ultimate crew!  We want to know who has what it takes to put together a team of friends and race for the top honors of being the best rafting crew of 2009

Besides bragging rights, you can win money!
