My days in the marketing department at ACE Adventure Resort are spent in front of a computer cranking out all kinds of artwork. I do everything from print and Web ads to posters, banners, signs and photos that you see at the resort.

I can really put a computer through the paces, so it's imperative that I have one with all the muscle to keep up with me. Also, the programs I use are demanding, as well as the large photo files.

Exactly one year ago this week I was having my first panic attack. After working faithfully for four years at a rafting company in Maine, my boyfriend, Chris, and I were unexpectedly unemployed. I was a wreck. What would we do now?

Four days later I got a response from my resume, "We'd love to have you work for us! We'll contact you soon. - Brandi, ACE Adventures." I was caustically optimistic. Where was ACE again? West Virginia! I hadn't really thought about what was involved in going that far.

Sometimes the cliche "There is no I in team" gets on my nerves. Everyone wants to get credit and be appreciated. I have learned, however, that when working for a large company, teamwork is a must. It is necessary. It takes a village. ACE's 1,500 acres won't run themselves.

I worked in the Reservation Office for two years, and that machine is uber-efficient. I would book groups and help newer employees with our reservations system. Kim would send confirmations. Tyler would work the front desk. We all knew where we belonged and it fit. It was understood.

You have not heard from me for a while.    To say the least, I have been very busy this year.    The past 6 months have been a blur, ensuring over 50,000 guests have a great time on their vacation.

Yes, that number is correct.    That is over 35,000 rafters with the rest being on canopy tours, ATV trips, paintball, kayaking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, mud obstacle mayhem and more.  Wow!  Writing those activities down really makes you realize that we do everything you can possibly do in the outdoors.

So now that I am back, the first thing I want to do is give a big shout out to my team: the guys and gals who worked their tails off this season.  I can't possibly begin to express my appreciation for them. There aren't enough pats on the back.

So with that said, here are the people who planned, priced, answered, scheduled and made 50,000 adventures happen!
