If you’re up to the challenge, why not see both sections of the Gauley in one incredible day…no less than 23 miles and 100 rapids!  ACE's Gauley Rafting Marathons can do this trip since our Lower Gauley takeout at Sugar Creek eliminates the 1-1/2 hour (3 1/2 miles) flatwater paddle that all other outfitters have to endure at the end of the day. You can camp out at Sugar Creek and do it all again on a Gauley River Marathon Riverside Overnight.

Many folks feel that, when they’ve done the Upper Gauley River, they’ve done it all.  Not true!  Some of the biggest waves and deepest holes are on the Lower section.  If you’re going to do America’s finest river, why not do all of it in a Gauley Rafting Marathon!

Traditional Marathon

Traditional Gauley Marathon: Fall

Gauley Marathon trips give you all the whitewater you can handle. Start with the Upper Gauley’s spectacular class V rapids and finish with the Lower’s rollercoaster wave trains and munchy holes. ACE Adventure Resort’s private takeout at Sugar Creek means you shave 3 ½ miles of slow flatwater off the end of your trip. And if one marathon isn’t enough for you, camp out at Sugar Creek to do it all again the next day on our Gauley River Marathon Riverside Overnight.

Some rafters will tell you that when you’ve done the Upper Gauley, you’ve done it all. Not true! Never underestimate the big waves and drops of the scenic Lower Gauley. While the Upper Gauley boasts some spankin class V rapids, the Lower has longer rapids, stretching the adrenaline rush out even further. Let our bravest guides show you the wildest ride on the Extreme Gauley Rafting Marathon! On a Team Extreme trip, we emphasize teamwork and shared adventure in an instructional format. You’ll be taught a number of advanced techniques. You’ll learn weight shifts, paddling draws and braces that are required moves when you’re running this small of a raft in the Team Extreme format.  Combine this with the Full day marathon and you have one of the most intense whitewater rafting trips imaginable on the Gauley River!

Our Extreme Gauley Rafting Marathon lets you run the entire river in one incredible day. That’s over 23 miles and 100 memorable rapids.

When you get back to ACE Adventure Resort we recommend a good soak in the hot tub of one of our Deluxe lodging options.
