Follow the River... an Historic Journey
Retrace the epic journey of Mary Draper Ingles, who at the age of 23, and pregnant, was captured by Shawnee Indians in Virginia and taken to an Indian village in Ohio with her two young sons in 1755. She subsequently escaped, leaving her three children behind, and made her way back home through a trackless wilderness, a distance of more than 500 miles. Her battle of survival had only just begun; she was determined to get her children back. Join us for this truly unique experience as we follow part of her trail through the New River Gorge, rafting and camping along the river. Our professional story teller will bring this historic adventure alive, retelling this wonderful story for all ages that truly captures the essence of the human spirit that can only be truly experienced by rafting and walking in her footsteps.
