Description
The Mountain Challenge is part orienteering and part adventure racing. Orienteering is a sport where "Orienteers" use maps, compasses or even a GPS unit to find "points" located in a specific landscape. Adventure racing ties in the competitive part! Basically your group can choose to use a compass and topo maps or a GPS unit to find the "points" located around property. We will split your group into teams giving them directions/GPS coordinates to all the "points". Whichever team finds the most "points" in the least time wins!
This trip provides the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt while being both physically and mentally challenging. The groups will use different forms of teamwork to navigate the rugged canyons and streambeds to locate all the pre-set "points". We must stress that this trip is not a guided trip. We will have faciliators and invisible observers to keep them from getting extremely lost but not to "guide" them. The judges are only there to help them navigate when necessary - it is up to the group to use the navigational devices and make the decisions necessary to win!
Special Notes
This trip requires a lot of hiking on different terrain, uphills, downhills, creekbeds, etc. Decent physical condition is recommended!
