| New River Gorge National River |
| The New River is a rugged, white water river. Flowing northward, it is the second oldest river in the world. The New River Gorge National River was established in 1978, protecting 53 miles of river as a free-flowing waterway, and encompassing 70,000-acres of land between Hinton and Fayetteville. The area is rich in cultural and natural history. Lush forests and sandstone cliffs set a scenic view. Recreational opportunities abound such as white water rafting, kayaking, and mountain biking, climbing, fishing, hiking, and camping. |

| Gauley River National Recreation Area |

This recreation area is famous for its rugged waterways and pristine wilderness. It is comprised of 25 miles of free-flowing water on the Gauley River, and 6 miles of the Meadow River. The Gauley River is know for its world-class white water, with miles of excellent rafting that includes several class V+ rapids. The Summersville Dam feeds the Gauley River. Public river access facilities are located here. There are many privately owned access facilities on the river.

| Bluestone National Scenic River |
| This scenic river area protects 11 miles of the lower Bluestone River. The area offers excellent fishing, hiking, and scenery although vehicular access is extremely limited. You may enter the area either by the trailhead at Bluestone State Park, or enjoy the view from the aerial tram at Pipestem Resort State Park. The river feeds into the Bluestone Lake just above Bluestone Dam near the town of Hinton in Summers County. |
