Team Challenge Course -New At ACE Adventure Center
Oak Hill, WV. Challenge: yourself, your friends, your management team, your community or corporate group. This is what ACE's Team Challenge Course is all about. In fact, this is what ACE Adventure Center is all about! With a wide variety of multi sport programs including whitewater rafting & kayaking on the New & Gauley Rivers, mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding, the Team Challenge Course fits right in with the ACE philosophy of taking life to the extremes and challenging yourself along the way!

New this spring, the Team Challenge Course, will be available to a variety of groups to assist them in meeting the challenges that can occur throughout life's daily journey. According to Jerry Cook, President of ACE Adventure Center, the Team Challenge Course offers yet another component to the physically challenging adventures at ACE. With three levels of initiative-based elements including the Alpine Tower, a 55-foot -high structure secluded in the woods at ACE's 1400-acre facility, The Team Challenge Course gives groups the opportunity to develop initiatives in teamwork, communication and problem solving. Cook explained that the purpose of the Team Challenge Course is to offer individuals as well as groups the chance to work on:
Personal Development Issues: expanding individual self-awareness, identification of personal limits, clarification of needs and goals, and recognition of an individual’s role in society
Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning how to become responsive to the needs, development of communication skills and forging cooperative relationships
Personal Philosophy: encompassing an individual’s beliefs and values.
ACE Challenge Courses Are Custom Designed
Ernie Kincaid, VP for ACE Adventure Center, points out that, "The level of physical challenge on the course can be adjusted to the level of each individual group. The Team Challenge Course is also designed for groups that have time constraints and it's one of the few challenge courses designed for groups with disabilities.” Steward explained that the idea behind the Team Challenge Course is to understand …“ that all people have handicaps- and we all have to adjust to them in ourselves as well as each other. Steward went on to add that because of those handicaps that are present in our daily lives, it is imperative to discover alternative ways of doing things. “The Team Challenges Course is an excellent way of exploring those alternatives and overcoming those handicaps.”

Cook and Kincaid concur that the addition of the Team Challenge Course at ACE Adventure Center is an integral part of the ACE philosophy of challenging the body as well as the mind.
