VIDEO & TRIP OVERVIEW

Whitewater Rafting On The Upper New River

video-watch

For Families Or Groups With Younger Kids

If you’ve got the young ones, the Upper New River has everything you’re looking for. Bouncy rapids, plenty of swimming, fun and games … this is the perfect trip. As an introduction to whitewater rafting, you won’t find a better stretch of wetness than this one.

Kids And Groups

Everything you need for the younger set is here at ACE. From special equipment for small fries to the guides who’ll help them down the river, we cover each detail. Meals are kid-friendly, and if they get messy at lunch, we’ve got the perfect place to wash ‘em off. We swim as much as we paddle on this one (non-swimmers are welcome, too, of course). Trust us- it’s way better than a day at the pool.

Beginner Whitewater

The rapids on the Upper New are newbie friendly. What you’ll find here are easy waves and bouncy ledges, with just the right amount of splash for the young ones among us. You’ll get to choose your craft most people, even little ones, go for the inflatable kayaks (which we call a “ducky”), but we’ve got the big rafts along for a more stable ride, just in case.

Not The Trip You Wanted?

We've got a trip for every age and ability. If this isn’t what you wanted to see, or you feel like finding out about another trip ACE offers, take a look in the Adventure Finder below. You’re just a click or two away from finding what you need.

The Upper New River is filled with history from the coal mining are in the New River Gorge. Nearly every pool the trip passes through is marked by a ghost town on one, if not both, sides of the river. Ask your guide for stories about life in the coal fields as you float downstream.
