The Upper New River
Beginner friendly rapids make this the perfect trip for laid-back adventure in the great outdoors. You'll raft through a magnificent 1,400-foot canyon and enjoy some of the East's most spectacular scenery. The Upper New River is unique in its geology. Your guide can tell you how the New River was formed over 300 million years ago, making it the world's 2nd oldest river.
The water is warm, the scenery is marvelous and the pace is unhurried. People who want to get "up close and personal" with the river will really like this trip, since they can swim and play in the quiet emerald green pools. A break for an exceptional picnic lunch and a short optional hike to an old ghost town add to the experience.

Even if you've never been on a river before, you'll be rafting with complete confidence, because there's a professional guide in every raft. Your guide will show you all you need to know to enjoy a safe and fun day on the Upper New River. This is the perfect trip for families with young children since the minimum age is only six (minimum chest size is 24 inches).

Upper New River All day experience (Trip #7)

Teens, tykes, grandparents and cautious adults...the world of rafting awaits you! This is a great opportunity for all to enjoy the scenic beauty and warm emerald waters of the upper New River. This "introductory" trip has eight good-time rapids that can be easily skirted if desired. Your experienced and friendly oarsman will do all the maneuvering, allowing you to enjoy the canyon's beauty.

| Family upper New River Overnight (Trip #8) |

Our 2-day family overnight features two full days of upper New River rafting, plus overnight camping right along the river at our own private beach. Each day you can choose to paddle a raft or have your guide row for you in an oar-rigged raft. For an extra kick we can bring 1 or 2 person inflatable cannoe/kayak style boats called "rubber duckies."

"Ducky" Option
For the more adventurous, we can take along our "duckies." These are 1 or 2-person inflatable kayaks that are stable, maneuverable, easy to paddle and tons of fun! Kids and grownups alike will have a blast driving their own boat through the Upper New River's "user friendly" waves and rapids.
