Rock Climbing Lead Instruction Clinic

The lead climber embodies the spirit of adventure; he or she is on the 'sharp end' of the rope, hunting for a stance while examining the shape of the rock for a place to anchor a piece of hardware. The lead climber requires a long apprenticeship and a solid foundation in climbing techniques. Skills such as efficient movement, hardware selection, route finding, and the ability to adapt in an unlimited assortment of situations are required of the lead climber. The lead climber needs to know how to use his gear and understand the demands placed upon it in a fall. Rock climbing at this level is a culmination of many skills and pure experience.

This is not a rock climbing clinic for beginners, it is recommended that you start with a Learn the Ropes Clinic if you are new to rock climbing. It is recommended that you can climb at 5.8 level on top rope before taking this course. A great step up from this clinic is the Traditional Multi Pitch Rock Climbing Clinic which will take your climbing to new heights.

Our lead climbing class is a 2:1 client/guide ratio seminar, held in the New River Gorge. Lead climbing is demanding, covering a broad range of subjects and we ground you in the fundamentals so that we can help you reach new heights. We will provide a skill evaluation form and a text list with the confirmation package. This is a two-on-one private instruction course.

This is a full day clinic, lunch is provided and we will get you back to ACE to take advantage of our deluxe lodging options.
