Mountain biking is the perfect addition to your West Virginia vacation. If you didn't already know it, there's a fat-tire paradise in southern West Virginia, and it's called the New and Gauley River canyons. With up to 1,000 feet of elevation and miles of mountain biking trails criss-crossing these canyons, you can pretty much take your pick. Scenic New River - Half Day Enjoy a fun half-day ride along the Thurmond-Minden Trail, which is 95% downhill (some pedaling required). Visit historic Thurmond and return to ACE Beach (right on the New River) on a Rails to Trails path where we'll be waiting to take you back to ACE on the canyon rim. This is the easiest mountain bike trip we offer.
Youth: Save $5 Follow the Gauley River - All Day This all-day ride is 95% downhill. Starting your day with a rugged mountain downhill to the Meadow River. From there, follow the railroad grade along the world famous Gauley River to Wood's Ferry. On weekends during Fall Gauley Season, stop and watch rafters and their guides navigate some of the best, most exciting white water in the country.
Youth: Save $5 Tour de Gorge - All Day This challenging all-day mountain bike trip through the heart of the New River Gorge takes you on 15 miles of moderate singletrack and forest service roads. Stop for a well-deserved deli lunch after a 600-foot descent into the gorge Finish your day at ACE's white water put-in on the bank of the New River where a shuttle awaits to take you back to ACE.
