It’s almost Gauley Season and we’re starting to get a little antsy. Why can’t it just be September already, right?
So, to redirect some of our excitement we decided it would be fun to give away some free stuff. If you want free stuff, show us your best blogging skills in action!
We will be hosting the first annual “Great Gauley Blog-Off” in honor of our favorite rafting season and we want to know what it means to you.
The first-place winner will receive a free trip down the Lower Gauley for two. Second place will get to take home a Gauley camp package and the third-place winner gets a Gauley raft trip for two.
Don’t forget to read the rules, regulations and deadlines.
You can get writing using one of our three prompts. Just be sure to use the same adventurousness that puts you in a raft every fall. Here are the blog topics to choose from:
1. If you could raft the Gauley with any famous person (dead, alive, or in between), who would it be and why? Would you let them guide or hope they were the person to get a personal introduction to Pillow Rock?
2. Who was your favorite guide that has taken you on the Gauley? Why did they make your experience special?
3. Write a poem about Gauley Season. We’re leaving this pretty open (we don’t want to intrude on your creative license). Haikus, odes, ballads, limericks, quatrains — it’s up to you!
Once you’ve created your blog masterpiece, log on to the submission form at the top of the Blog-Off page. Enter your name, email address and enter your blog text. We’ll publish it to the ACE blog and let you know when it appears.
Judging will be based on reader interaction. The blog posts with the most original comments, retweets, Facebook links, etc. will take home the prizes.
