It was a shocking scene under the New River Gorge Bridge. There I was, 850 feet up in the air. I was walking on the tiny catwalk under the massive bridge, training to become a Bridge Walk tour guide. Then, all of a sudden, we spotted a Peregrine Falcon!

On April 18, 1835, Richard Clayton became the first man to fly a hot-air balloon over 500 kilometers. In so doing, he became the first man to fly in West Virginia. His path crossed over or near ACE Adventure Resort! Clayton was a clockmaker, silversmith and budding aeronaut from Cincinnati, Ohio. Read more.
