All systems are go for Sunday’s XTERRA Triathlon here at ACE Adventure Resort.
Jeff Walls, race director extraordinaire, came in this weekend to get the race course ready for next weekend. Apparently there were rumors circulating that the event was canceled because Jeff took a new position down in North Carolina. This is not true.
Right before he left, he took care of much of the organization such as the paperwork (I’m sure you can imagine the mound), T-shirts (another Tommy Hood original), awards, safety and the famous burrito luncheon.
He’ll be back this Friday to make sure the event runs smoothly on Sunday.
More information about the race can be found here.
If you still have questions, drop me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). I can certainly answer most of them since I used to be the race director for ACE, and I regularly ride the trails.
It’s starting to get pretty fast now that the rain has eased and people are out riding. Even if you’re not as competitive and speedy as these triathletes, we encourage you to come check out the trails at ACE — great for mountain biking and hiking.
There are a few new trails that Jeff is incorporating into the bike course. He and his trail maintenance volunteers cut them last fall and cleaned them up this spring. They are a nice addition since they get you off the double-track and road and make the course a little more technical.
We’re looking forward to seeing you this weekend. Should be a great time in West Virginia!
