Editor’s Note: This is the first Great Gauley Blog-Off contest submission by David Watkins. David answered the question, which famous person would you raft the Gauley with and why? Terms and rules are listed at the end of this post and your essay and poem submissions are being accepted through Sept. 7, 2010.
CLINT EASTWOOD — No matter what, you would always come through, whether it was Dirty Harry, Pale Rider, etc., you know you would make it to the end, no matter how “Unforgiven” the Gauley River can be, by the end of the trip to say, “Yeah, Go Ahead Make my Day.” It would definitely be true. He would be the best of the best to go rafting with and we could ride back on horses, too!
