Challenging rapids with more powerful waves and hydraulics. More intense, turbulent whitewater demands faster maneuvers to avoid currents and rapids with big holes. Attention should be paid to instruction and calls from your ACE guide for a wild and exciting ride. No experience needed, but swimming skills recommended.

Run the most exciting part of the Lower New TWICE IN ONE DAY! During higher water levels of the spring and early summer, we run the final 8 miles of the Lower New, ride back to the put-in for lunch, and then run the whole thing again! That adds up to over 40 major rapids in one incredible day.

At lower Summertime flows, these awesome and legendary drops like Iron Ring, Lost Paddle and Sweets Falls are even steeper and more technical than they are in the Fall. Each day’s dam release dictates the boats we’ll be using…from 14-foot High Adventure rafts to smaller 3 to 5-person boats right down to inflatable kayaks. There’s no better or more exciting Summertime paddling than the Summer Gauley…and it’s an ACE exclusive!
